Actress Sonam Kapoor, who is currently busy in shooting for the home production film Khoobsurat, has signed the dotted lines of Arbaaz Khan’s next production film. The banner last produced Salman Khan starrer Dabangg 2 and now team looking to expand the home banner.
While Dabangg was fully hero-centric movie, the upcoming film will be a woman-centric one where Sonam Kapoor will lead the show. The film is called Dolly Ki Doli, and will be directed by debutant Abhishek Dogra, who had previously assisted R Balki on Paa.
Introducing the nature of lead character, Dolly, the filmmaker said it is going to be a spunky North Indian girl. Arbaaz confirmed the news saying, “We wanted a girl who can do justice to the character. I'm happy to have Sonam onboard. When we narrated the script to her, she admitted that she could instantly identify with Dolly.”
Dolly Ki Doli is expected to go on floors in January 2014 and will be shot across the Northern heartland. There are three more significant characters that will be cast soon. Arbaaz said the film is a quirky drama with a strong comedic element. “It is one aspect of Sonam's personality, which hasn't been explored. If all goes well, we will be ready for release by the end of next year,” he concluded.
Sonam’s last outing was Raanjhanaa that created magic at box-office.
